PECTECH has in stock various models of current transformers to be combined with your network analyzers or to be connected to those managed by us. The choice depends on the type of application you have to deal with, a machine rather than a retrofit on an existing panel, or the need for a solution that can fit even without having carried out an inspection.
We can suggest and supply various solutions from the classic closed-loop CT to open-loop CTs with a 1A/5A secondary, or the more practical 333mV. Depending on conductor or bar size, we cover from a few to thousands of amperes. An increasingly used solution is the Rogowski probe; it is an air-wound, rather than a ferrous core, which does not have the saturation problems of classical CTs.
With this probe, we can cover a measurement range from about ten amperes up to thousands of amperes with the same probe. The compact size and low weight allow the use in any installation, on the other hand it is a more expensive solution than the current transformers that can be opened for amperages below 300 A.
For versions with 333mV secondary, 5A up to 50A primaries are available with a 10mm through hole, from 80 up to 200A with a 16mm through hole, from 100 up to 300A with 24mm hole, from 300 to 600 A with 36mm hole.
The big advantage of a 333mV secondary is the small section of the cable and the possibility of extend the secondary cable (even tens of meters) without affecting the measurement accuracy. On the other hand, the 5 A version is the most used and common, associated with all the instruments available on the market and also for MID certified versions. These models are all supplied with 1m of integrated cable.
Hole diameter 24 mm for current from 100 A up to 300 A.Hole diameter 36 mm for current from 300 A up to 600 A.
We recommend the version with 333mV secondary for installations away from the Energy meter.
In the case of measurements on bars, the diameter of 24 mm or 36 mm is sometimes not sufficient, in this case the solutions available are larger openable CTs with rectangular or square windows as needed.
Available sizes are 20×30 mm for current up to 300 A, 50×80 mm for current from 300 to 1000 A, the 80×120 mm for current from 600 to 2000 A and the largest 80×160 mm for current from 2000 to 6000 A.
All these Transformers are only available with secondary 1A/5A If your instrument supports Rogowski probes, the cost and dimensions of this solution are certainly advantageous compared to classic CTs.

This type of CTs are the most known and widespread, they are mainly used on realizations from scratch and where the load shedding is not critical. It is the most economical solution and with better performances than the split core solutions, on the other hand they are less practical. Depending on the application there are multiple sizes and measurement ranges available, the choice is made mainly based on the size and type of conductor.
Stock models start at 50 A with a hole from 20 mm up to 1000 A with a 30 mm hole. As for the openable ones, as you go up in size and amperage, it is advisable to make evaluations of economy and practicality with the openable versions. The standard is the secondary at 5 A, it is possible to request versions with secondary 1 A (more expensive and with supply times of about 2 weeks).
The Rogowski probes have the great advantage of being able to cover a very wide measurement range, from ten to tens of thousands of Ampere. The output is in mV / kA.
These probes cannot be used by all measuring instruments as the output signal must be “integrated” as it is out of phase and not linear. It is possible to use external integrators to be able to use the Energy meter probes with 333mV secondary, while still ensuring good accuracy. We have two different models, a flexible Mini Rogowski with a diameter of 36mm, suitable for measurements up to 1000 A and the bigger version for industrial needs with diameters from 85 to 300mm.
MAIN FEATURES:
This type of Current Transformers is not used in combination with the Energy meters and Network Analyzers, but is used for the measurement of DC current.
The main markets are those of photovoltaics, telecommunications, data centers, batteries, charging stations for electric vehicles. Both openable and closed versions with analogue and RS485 Modbus RTU output are available. The measurement ranges start from 50 A up to several thousand Amperes depending on the need, in the case of measurement of Energy in DC dedicated instruments are available.
The HSCT series sensors allow the measurement of direct and alternating currents with excellent precision and a wide measurement range.
Using the open loop Hall-effect measurement technique, they allow the use of an openable core, making the sensors easy to install without disconnecting the conductors. Removable screw terminal blocks make installation extremely convenient.
AC/DC current transformers perform RMS and DC measurements with integrated analogue and RS485 serial output. The -I version provides a 4-20mA on current loop.
